East edges Panthers in five sets

NORTH VERNON — Columbus East pulled out a 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 16-14 volleyball win Tuesday at Jennings County in a battle for first place in the Hoosier Hills Conference.

Payten Osborn led the Olympians (5-6, 2-0) with 22 assists and two aces. Addy Dean pounded 13 kills, Anika Jenkins had nine blocks, Krea Martin notched 32 digs and Lilah Klei and Kadence Miller each served two aces.

Also for East, Izzy Rice tallied 10 kills, and Chloe Gill added nine kills and 20 digs. Kenlee Gault posted 16 assists, Klei had six blocks, Dean and Cadence Smith each posted four blocks and Miller recorded 13 digs.

For the Panthers (6-2, 2-1), Kaydence Lowman and Sydney Kegley each pounded 14 kills, Lydia Martin and Lilly Franks each notched 19 digs and Khylee Barlow had three blocks. Kegley and Martin each served one ace.

Also for Jennings, Martin pounded 11 kills, and Barlow added three kills.
