Bull Dogs down Warriors

WHITELAND — Columbus North and Whiteland decided to play a seven-match varsity boys tennis event Thursday, and the 22nd-ranked Bull Dogs came away with a 5-2 win.

Alek Devidze beat AJ Stephenson 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Max Wei topped Brady Gillespie 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Jace Branham defeated Trent McGary 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles (4-2) for the Bull Dogs.

North’s Teddy Littrell and Vince Sasse beat Quintin Gieseking and Gavin Rice 7-6, 6-0 at No. 1 double. Jaishal Padmanabhan and Harsil Gandhi topped Caleb Stubbe and Rhett Monday 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

The Bull Dogs’ Tomas Gaggiano and Richardo Oprata fell to Tysen McGary and Devin Powell 6-7, 6-1, (10-4) at No. 3 doubles. Niranjan Pillah and Andrew Huang lost to Ty Chudyk and Michael Buttler 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 doubles.
