President Donald Trump in nine months has taken control of most of our federal government.
This has resulted due to the Republican-controlled Congress abdicating all its power to Trump.
The founders of the Constitution made sure that Congress’ power exceeded the power of the executive branch because they had the memories of living under a king in Europe. But this Congress did not have the courage to follow the Constitution because they feared repercussions from Trump.
Trump had won complete control of Republican voters and he has said many times, ” I love an uneducated voter.” And Trump knew from his years of experience in real estate that he would have no problem in swaying this kind of voter to vote for him.
And now Trump believes as president he has “the right to to do anything I want to do.”
I am surprised by the number of people who attend church regularly and strongly support Trump’s agenda. And many have a belief in Trump that is so strong, they refuse to even listen to another point of view.
In my research, I found a story where a pastor preached a strange sermon. He said, “I fear supporting the actions and words of Trump so strongly may interfere with your religious convictions.” Sadly, two months after the pastor’s sermon, he was dismissed by the church.
Over the past few decades, the country has seen a decline in church attendance.. If America ends up being ruled by an authoritarian dictator, the power of the church will languish.
Our allies around the world are watching. We don’t want to be the generation that history blames for the end of America’s long-term status as the leader of the free world.
