A Columbus City Council vote added sexual orientation, gender identity, age and veteran status as protected classes in the city’s human rights ordinance. The vote came 15 years after the first proposal to add the LGBTQ+ community as protected classes.
2000
Columbus East High School junior Khara Lord recorded a four-song CD of her original music at Echo Park Studios in Bloomington, which sold 150 copies and were some of the most requested songs on local radio stations.
1975
Columbus Boy Scout Wayne Kalkwarf was awarded the William T. Hornaday Medal for conservation work by the Boy Scouts of America and the New York Zoological Society. Kalkwarf was the first scout in the Hoosier Trails Scouting Council to receive the medal.
