The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning short-term lane and ramp closures at the I-65 and State Road 46 interchange (Exit 68) for routine bridge inspection work in Columbus.
Beginning on or after Tuesday, Sept. 23, short-term I-65 on and off ramp closures will be used at State Road 46 (Exit 68) for up to three days, weather permitting. The ramp closures are currently planned as follows:
- The northbound I-65 on-ramp from eastbound State Road 46 will be closed.
- The southbound I-65 on-ramp from westbound State Road 46 will be closed.
- The northbound I-65 off-ramp to westbound State Road 46 will be closed.
- The southbound I-65 off-ramp to eastbound State Road 46 will be closed.
Also in the same time frame, short-term lane closures will be used on eastbound and westbound State Road 46 at I-65 for up to three days, weather permitting. The lane closures are currently planned as follows:
- Westbound State Road 46 will be reduced to two thru lanes just east of I-65 and under the I-65 overpass. All turn lanes from westbound State Road 46 will be closed between the I-65 overpass and the westbound State Road 46 to I-65 on-ramp.
- Eastbound State Road 46 will be reduced to two thru lanes just west of I-65 and under the I-65 overpass. All turn lanes from eastbound State Road 46 will be closed between the I-65 overpass and the eastbound State Road 46 to I-65 on-ramp.
Overall inspection work is expected to take up to three days, weather permitting. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
