Next Gen Manufacturing Connections is sponsoring STEM Discovery Night, a family-friendly event from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Toyota T+REX Complex, 6125 Inwood Drive, Columbus.
This free, interactive evening invites students, caregivers, and community members to explore the innovation and creativity in modern manufacturing.
Discovery Night will feature fun, hands-on activities spotlighting STEM in action, for students to experience obotics, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence and advanced fabrication methods.
Experts from Columbus’ manufacturing powerhouses, including Cummins, Toyota Material Handling, Enkei, Faurecia, Lindal Group will be available.
Covered Bridge BBQ will provide food available for purchase at the event.
This event offers a rare window into how local companies harness advanced manufacturing to shape products and careers.
STEM Discovery and Manufacturing Day will showcase today’s manufacturing environment, a high-tech ecosystem where artificial intelligence, 3D printing, co-bots, and augmented/virtual reality fuel innovation and career growth.
Training in this field leads to a variety of well-paying jobs, including those in finance, information technology, chemistry, industrial maintenance, marketing, and logistics.
Exhibitors will include Toyota Material Handling, Conexsus Indiana, Cummins, Enkei, Flambeau, Forvia, Hiker Trailers, Indiana University Columbus, Ivy Tech Community College, Lindal, Propeller, and Service My Restaurants.
The STEM discovery event is a kickoff to National Manufacturing Week. On Friday, Oct. 3, more than 400 regional high school students will participate in Manufacturing Day, a day-long event designed to educate and inspire students through hands-on activities, panel discussions, and tours of Walesboro area manufacturing operations.
The Friday, Oct. 3 event is an invitation-only event for high school students only and is supported by NextGen Connections, a collaborative group that includes participating employers, Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, the Community Education Coalition, C-4 Career Tech Ed, Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp.
