Despite the morning rain, about 1,520 bicycle riders participated in the annual Hope Ride, a fundraiser for local charities and food banks. The event started and finished at Hauser Junior-Senior High School and offered rides of 12, 50, 62 and 100 miles.

Hauser volleyball beat Southwestern 15-12, 15-5, with 11 service points from Brandi Burke, and four kills and two blocks from Leah Sneed.

J. Irwin Miller, Cummins Engine Co. board chairman, hosted 21 Urban Institute Trustees, including Robert S. McNamara, William Scranton and John D. Rockefeller IV. The board members stayed at the Imperial House Hotel and had a dinner party at the Miller home.
