East clinches at least share of HHC title with shutout at Floyd

FLOYDS KNOBS — Columbus East clinched at least at tie for the Hoosier Hills Conference boys soccer title with a 2-0 win Tuesday at Floyd Central.

David Sylva and Cristian De Dios scored goals for the Olympians (9-4-1, 5-0). Farid Garcia Renteria had an assist.

“It was a gritty and tough performance from the boys,” East coach Sam LaVelle said. “They had to fight and leave it all on the line for the win. It was the best team performance that we could have asked for.”

The Olympians can win the HHC title outright with a win or a tie Saturday at New Albany.
