Helen A. Rich, 91, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away peacefully September 26, 2025, surrounded by family.
Helen was born June 9, 1934, in Fresno, California, the daughter of Helen Henrickle and C.D. Grimes. Helen was married to the love of her life, Jack Rich, who preceded her in death in 2004. Together, they built a life filled with love, family and community.
For more than 50 years, Helen lived on Sycamore Drive in Columbus, where she created a warm and welcoming home for family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength and devotion to her loved ones.
Helen was the proud mother of three children:
* Donna Weerts and husband, Craig with children, Jennifer Weerts Rumsey (children Helen, Katherine and Chelsea Webber; Chelsea’s children, Oliver and Andrew), Challis Weerts and Christopher Weerts
* Dean Rich and wife, Marti, with children, Courtney Brandvik and husband, Matt (children Kate, Charlie, George and Louie), and Nick Rich; she was also step-grandmother, to Hanna Nicely and husband, Matt (daughter Emily) and Maddie French and husband, Phil
* Doug Rich and wife, Beth, with their daughter Elli
Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Grimes, Dude Grimes, Warren Grimes and Kenny Henrickle. She was a beloved grandmother, great-grandmother and step-great-grandmother, always cherishing time with her large and growing family.
Her life was marked by faith, family and quiet resilience. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
A private family service will be held at the Garland Brook Mausoleum; Reverend Howard Boles will officiate. In memory of Helen, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
