Crimson Pride upset Rio Grande in five sets

IU Columbus picked up one of its biggest volleyball wins in program history Friday, pulling off a 22-25, 25-18, 19-25, 26-24, 15-12 upset of Rio Grande, which was unbeaten in the River States Conference and was receiving votes in the NAIA poll.

Cora Baker pounded 15 kills, Bailey Stevens recorded 33 assists, Ava Granson and Journee Brown each had four blocks, Alyvia Luce notched 22 digs and Sadie Egan served three aces to lead th Crimson Pride (12-6, 3-3).

Also for IUC, Egan tallied 13 kills and 14 assists, Brown had 12 kills and Baker added three blocks, 19 digs and two aces. Luce posted six assists and Stevens added 15 digs and one ace.

The Crimson Pride host West Virginia Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ceraland.
