Looking Back – Oct. 3

Three huge tractors parked outside The Commons on Washington Street catch the eye of downtown walkers on Oct. 2, 1975. The tractors were on display as part of the agriculture show underway at The Commons through Oct. 5.

2015

The annual Touch-a-Truck was held at Clifty Park, which attracted nearly 1,000 preschoolers and kindergarteners. The children interacted with nearly 40 vehicles provided by 25 organizations and businesses.

2000

Members of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill South Central Indiana Chapter gathered at First Christian Church for a candlelight vigil to bring light to Mental Illness Awareness Week.

1975

Xenia Miller was elected chairman of the Indiana Arts Commission, which she had been a member of since 1971. Miller succeeded Dr. Thomas Bergin of Notre Dame, who was elected in 1973.
