It will be Columbus North and Greensburg vying for the sectional trophy Friday.

The 23rd-ranked Bull Dogs and the Pirates both took care of business in Thursday’s boys tennis sectional semifinals, cruising to 5-0 wins. They’ll meet in the final of the Columbus North Sectional at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

North (9-6) won all of its scores by 6-0, 6-0 over East. Alek Devidze beat Trevor Ernst at No. 1 singles, Max Wei topped Kai Bergmann at No. 2 singles, Jace Branhan defeated Landon Redelman at No. 3 singles, Teddy Littrell and Vince Sasse blanked Michael Reed and Micah Wettschurack at No. 1 doubles, and Luka Devidze and Jaishal Padmanabhan beat Carson Hartsook and Cooper Harry at No. 2 doubles.

“Our goal for tonight was really do as good if not better than what we did last time against them. We really took care of business in the fact that we won 6-0, 6-0 in all the spots is really nice for the guys. It’s a good accomplishment for them,” North coach Kendal Hammel said. “But again, they’ve got to keep up that same mentality as we move on to play Greensburg. Greensburg will be a nice team. They’re pretty decent in singles. We’ll see how things go.”

The Bull Dogs and Olympians (4-20) played in the regular season in August, with North winning 4-1.

“It was a good season, but we didn’t play well today,” East coach Adam Ulrich said.

For Edinburgh (4-11), Bailey Totten fell to Mason McNulty 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Raiden Stanley lost to Will Weber 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Braden Cox fell to Brody Sanders 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

The Lancers’ Jayson Music and Brinnyn Moss lost to Reece Chapman and Wade Schutte 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Charlie Roberts and Jayden Castillo fell to Jaxson Phillips and Max Buening 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

“It was a long season. I’m very proud of my kids. They work very hard,” Edinburgh coach Pete Khensouri said. “I’ve been talking to them since the first week of August, and we made a lot of improvement. We are a young team. We only have two seniors (Totten and Music) on the varsity team. We fought hard, but give credit to Greensburg, they are a very good team top to bottom.”
