East boys, Jennings girls take third in HHC

FLOYDS KNOBS — Columbus East edged Jennings County for third and fourth place Saturday in the Hoosier Hills Conference boys cross-country meet.

Host Floyd Central won the boys meet with 28 points t0 60 for runner-up Seymour. The Olympians slipped past the Panthers 84-87.

East’s Norman Dickson finished second individually in 16 minutes, 18.13 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Elijah Clore and Riley Wilson took 17th and 18th in 17:25.1 and 17:43.0, while Lorren Westerfeld was 21st (17:52.9), Maddox Hult 28th (18:12.5), Cullen Fullerton 36th (18:42.3) and Beckett Mocas 40th (19:04.8).

Cash Summers and Maxwell Rodriguez led Jennings with ninth- and 10th-place finishes in 16:42.4 and 16:43.9. Zachary Wahlman took 12th in 16:57.0, while Dawson Leak was 24th (18:03.1), Eli Lucas 37th (18:45.4) and Ellis Rodriguez 60th (30:07.4).

In the girls meet, the Panthers scord 77 points to finish third behind Floyd Central (27) and Seymour (69). The Olympians were seventh with 167.

Jennings’ Addistyn Long finished third in 18:56.5. Alana Watts and Shelby Allen took 14th and 15th in 20:48.7 and 21:00.7, while Addie Otte was 27th (22:00.3), Bella Miller 30th (22:51.6), Molly Wathen 41st (24:02.2) and Addy Herche 45th (24:47.6).

Ainslee Shaw led East with a 16th-place finish in 21:05.2. Abby Collins took 39th in 23:54.2, while Brooke Newell was 42nd (24:15.9), Daphne May 48th (25:36.4), Trinity Burns 50th (25:44.6), Abigail Morales Pascual 52nd (26:08.1) and Delaney Rogers 54th (26:48.1).
