In 1982, Alan became a devoted member of Ogilville Church of Christ. His strong faith was a guiding force throughout his life and a source of strength to those around him.

Alan shared his life with his beloved wife of 62 years, Jackie Richards. Together they built a loving family that includes their son Mike Richards and his wife Ellen; their daughter Susan Karles and her husband Kevin; and their cherished grandchildren Jonathan, Jessica, Julia, and Katie. Alan also took great joy in being a great-grandfather to Gavin, Gage, Chloe, Ezio, and Lainey. He is also remembered fondly by his sister Tina Hale.

Alan had an adventurous spirit that led him across the country from coast to coast and beyond to Canada and Jamaica. He loved hunting and fishing and found peace in the great outdoors. His adventurous nature extended to the kitchen as well; he delighted in trying all kinds of food from comforting home-cooked meals to unique ethnic dishes that satisfied his curious palate.

Music was ever-present in Alan’s life. Whether it was Polka or Gospel playing softly in the background or enjoying performances by his favorite artist Daniel O’Donnell, music brought him joy and comfort.

Those who knew Alan will remember him for his quick wit and great sense of humor, qualities that endeared him to many throughout the years.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire love, laughter, and adventure in their lives.
