Martha “JoAnn” Myers, 84, of Taylorsville, passed from this life peacefully and unexpectedly at 2:43 a.m. Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
JoAnn was born July 8, 1941, in Scott County, Indiana, the daughter of Lawrence N. and Mary E. Crane Lyles.
She attended Salem High School and later went to work at Hoerner Waldorf as shipping clerk supervisor for 24 years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Salem, Indiana. JoAnn was a hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors, quilting and liked the challenge of working puzzles. Loretta Lynn was her favorite singer and she looked forward to canning with her granddaughter, Brittney. Collecting Coca-Cola items and woodworking were some of things she truly enjoyed in her spare time, however, her greatest love was her family. She will be deeply missed by those that know and love her.
Survivors include her children, Doug Myers of Jonesville, Jefferey “Dean” Myers of Salem, Neal (Billie) Myers of Scottsburg, Churee Bowling of Reddington; grandchildren, Brittney (Cory) Luedeman, Hunter (Destany) Myers, Andy (Victoria) Vires, Hilari (Marcus) Skaggs, Johnathan Bowling, Chloe Holtke, Lucas Holtke; great-grandchildren, Deagan, Kyann, Nevaeh, Kinzley, Luke Wayne, Presley, Henry, Taylor and Palmer; siblings, Roger (Carolyn) Lyles, Wanda Rowland, June Voyles, all of Salem, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and companion of 35 years, Fred Bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lawrence Junior Lyles, Alton Lyles, Lois Trueblood, Paul Lyles, Mildred Hignite, Kenneth Lyles, Marvin Lyles, Melvin Lyles and granddaughter, Brooke Vires.
In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and a celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.
