Columbus East snapped a two-game losing streak Friday with a 28-9 Hoosier Hills Conference win at Jeffersonville.
JD Rotert ran for 167 yards and a touchdown to lead the Olympians (4-4, 3-1).
East got on the board in the closing seconds of the first quarter when Kyson Villarreal hit Paxton Thompson for a 9-yard touchdown. The Red Devils (3-5, 2-3) tied the game midway through the second quarter, but The Olympians took a 14-7 lead into halftime after a 1-yard run by Villarreal.
East extended its lead in the third quarter on a 9-yard run by Rotert. Brody Miller added a 4-yard scoring run in the final period to cap the scoring for the Olympians.
Jeffersonville came up with a safety in the game’s final minute.
Villarreal finished 2 for 6 for 38 yards passing for East. Thompson caught three passes for 48 yards and a touchdown.
