2015
Jerry Maulin of Columbus refurbished his turn-of-the-century barn along West County Road 300S, which became home to an informal music series, Barn Stomp in the Barn Loft, 1906. The year in the series title refers to a carved wooden panel found on the barn’s eave.
2000
Columbus North High School teacher assistant Lucia McMahan became a U.S. citizen in a ceremony at the federal court building in Indianapolis, and was greeted at the school with a celebration. Principal Bill McCaa announced the day was “Lucia McMahan Day” over the loudspeaker.
1975
Thousands visited Columbus to watch the Apple Festival parade, which included clowns, floats, balloons and a marching band. Indianapolis Mayor Richard Lugar also marched in the parade.
