NORTH VERNON
Dalene “Mater” Taylor, 68, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:42 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at her residence.
Born January 21, 1957, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Alva Dale and Charline Doris (Dutro) Jordan. She married Everett Junior Taylor on July 3, 1981, in Hayden; he preceded her in death on March 7, 2020.
Dalene was a 1975 graduate of Columbus East High School. Dalene worked in professional housecleaning working for nursing homes, restaurants and department stores. She enjoyed fishing, camping, attending auctions, and doing black Friday shopping. Dalene loved time with her family, going out to eat and shopping and helping others.
Survivors include her son, Skyler (Isabelle) Taylor of North Vernon; her daughter, Heather (Nathan) Hall of North Vernon; brother, Dale Ray (Toni) Jordan of Columbus; sister, Jennie Malson-Price of Freetown; grandchildren, Hayley Hall of Seymour, Hadlee Johns of Franklin, and David Taylor and Sadie Taylor, both of North Vernon; several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A funeral service for Dalene will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp &Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Tom Campbell officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday. The burial will be in Hayden Cemetery in Hayden.
Memorials in honor of Dalene may be made through the funeral home for funeral expenses.
