COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police and firefighters are at the scene of a personal injury accident in the 2900 block of McKinley Avenue in which a car careened into the front porch of a home to avoid a collision with another vehicle.

The vehicle also went through a power pole next to the home, causing power lines to sag over the McKinley Avenue and McClure Street intersection.

Witnesses said the accident happened at about 10:45 a.m. when a black Kia Sorrento driven by Daniel Lain-Sutherlin, 23, Columbus, was heading to Marr Road to get to the Engagement Center when he attempted to avoid a collision with a van and went off the road into the pole and porch.

According to Columbus police, he suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene by CRH ambulance.

Police said McKinley Avenue from Brooks to Nolting streets will be closed for some time as the pole is replaced by Duke Energy.
