The Night of a Thousand Jacks event was held at FairOaks Mall, which included dancing, a Halloween costume contest and a Jack-0-lantern carving contest.

Columbus East High School’s instrumental music department presented its fall concert, featuring the orchestra and Jazz Inc., in the school’s auditorium. The orchestra played works by Mozart and Rameau and the jazz band played a variety of jazz tunes including swing, blues and Latin music.

Dr. Dennis Lacy, superintendent of Brown County schools, discussed the requirements of Title IX, part of the 1973 Department of Education amendments, as part of Special Gifts Week at The Commons. The week-long series of discussions was sponsored by the Columbus Mayor’s Task Force on Women.
