Nancy J. Lovins, 85, of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
Nancy was born July 10, 1940, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the daughter of Horatio and Florence Bridgewater Shroyer. On October 24, 1958, she married Charles B. Lovins.
Mrs. Lovins was a devoted home maker. She enjoyed canning tomatoes, green beans or anything that could be properly canned. Taking care of the local children, along with her own, was a task that she found enjoyable whether it was cooking them a delicious meal or just watching out for their safety and well-being. Nancy also served on the cemetery board as trustee in addition to being the church treasurer for several years. She was proud to showcase her civic duty and work the election polls every year. Mrs. Lovins was more than happy to volunteer at the Mt. Healthy School Library where she could help children read. Nancy will be deeply missed by those that know and love her.
Survivors include her children, Joyce (Randy) Brown of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Johnny (Melissa) Lovins of Columbus; grandchildren, Jordan Brown, Evan (Morgan) Brown, Jared Lovins, Rachel (Branden) Smith and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles, brothers, Johnny and Donald Shroyer.
In keeping with her request, cremation will take place and a memorial service honoring Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Amy Clark Linnemann officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Inurnment will be at Ohio Chapel Cemetery located directly next to the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Chapel United Methodist Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
