NORTH VERNON — The defending state champion Columbus East girls wrestlers opened the season by splitting a pair of matches Wednesday at Jennings County.
The Olympians and Jeffersonville tied 42-42, but the Red Devils won on criteria. East then bounced back with a Jennings County 56-42 win against the host Panthers.
Tienica Dits (110 and 115 pounds), Breylin Rodriguez (115/120), Gloria Cloud (125/130), Thania De La Cruz Diaz (145), Annie Redman (170), Kaydence Spradlin (235) all went 2-0 for the Olympians. Ellie Bliton (235) went 1-0, and Lia Tomlinson (100) and Ashlee Manis (190) each went 1-1.
