Duke Energy Foundation contributes grants for hunger relief efforts

PLAINFIELD – The Duke Energy Foundation is contributing a total of $207,000 in shareholder-funded grants to organizations across the company’s Indiana service territory to support hunger relief efforts. This includes seven grants for nonprofits in southeast Indiana.

These seven organizations in southeast Indiana are receiving grants from Duke Energy Foundation:

  • Dearborn County Clearinghouse for Emergency Aid — $5,000 for hunger relief
  • New Mercies Community Services, Franklin County – $2,000 for paper products
  • Ecumenical Assembly of Bartholomew County Churches (Love Chapel) – $2,500 for holiday food program
  • Rush County Community Assistance – $8,000 for food pantry
  • United Way of Jackson County – $8,500 for food pantry
  • Heart of Indiana United Way, Fayette County – $5,000 to purchase food
  • Columbus Regional Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, Bartholomew County – $5,000 for household supplies and grocery gift cards

Today’s announcement of $207,000 adds up to $311,000 in total funding over the year for hunger relief and other basic needs in Indiana’s communities.
