The Full Throttle Speed Skating team competed in the Chicago area earlier this month in the Franklin Park Barrel Buster. Both days were run as separate ability meets, with the placement for the second day based on the results of the first day. The event attracted skaters from Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Ohio and Indiana.

On the first day, Edward Meir, Ethan Tan and Quin Fortner competed at 222m, 333m and 500m distances, finishing seventh, third, and first in their respective groups.

On the second day, Meir and Tan competed at 222m, 333m and 444m distances, with Meir finishing fourth and Tan finishing third in their group. Tan finished in a three-way tie for first by points, but final placement came from tiebreakers.

Fortner competed at 333m, 500m and 777m distances, finishing first for his group.

Full Throttle Speed Skating Team practices at the Hamilton Center Ice Arena and is coached by Taylor and Mikey Burdekin of Columbus.
