Shelbyville man arrested on drug-related charges after traffic stop

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Shelbyville man was arrested on drug-related charges after a traffic stop in the area of River Road and East County Road 550N by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, K9 Deputy Dylan Prather was in that area when he observed the driver of a vehicle was not wearing a seat belt. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, and during the course of the traffic stop, K9 Frizko alerted on the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle and the occupants, the passenger, Jeremy Cox, 45, Shelbyville, was found to have concealed approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine on his person, said Lt. Dane Duke, sheriff’s office spokesman.

Cox was taken into custody and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. Cox was booked on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Cox remains in custody on a 72 hour hold at the jail, according to jail officials.
