BCSC teachers will trade lesson plans for a game plan Sunday during the most prominent fundraiser of the year for Bartholomew Consolidated School Foundation.

The Harlem Wizards are coming to town again for their annual matchup against BCSC teachers and employees on Sunday, November 23.

Columbus East High School is the site of the match-up from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m, with doors opening at 1 p.m.

Deepti (Agashe) Vijaykumar, foundation executive director, said the evening features food, music and entertainment, but it’s not just basketball.

“There are a lot of fun things involved— they involve the audience, they bring them onto the court,” Vijaykumar said. “It’s tailor-made for young families to enjoy with their children.”

Information about how to buy tickets to the game can be found on the Bartholomew Consolidated School Foundation (BCSF) Facebook page, bcsfstars.org, directly at bit.ly/3JLp79R, or by scanning the QR code on the event flier.

Tickets start at $14 for students and are $18 for general admission. There are also other options including “Courtside Plus,” which includes courtside seating, a pregame meet & greet with Harlem Wizards players, along with souvenirs for $45.

All of the proceeds from the event goes to support the work BCSF does, namely the teacher grants the foundation gives out in the fall and spring.

The foundation has given away more than $20,000 in grants to BCSC teachers this year supporting innovative and excellent classroom instruction.

Teachers are able to apply for the grants, and submit proposals showing why a new lesson, for example, would improve students grades or inspire them to read more. Or maybe a teacher wants to take their class to a field trip like a concert to foster the passion of young musicians. Those are the types of things the grants support.

When asked if the BCSC team has ever won, Vijaykumar laughed and said “no.” But maybe this is the year.

The BCSC team is coached by Superintendent Chad Phillips. The rest of the roster is as follows:
