Wilma J. Jines

Wilma J. Jines, 86 of Seymour (formerly of North Vernon) passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Schneck Medical Center.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral &Cremation Service. Rev. Dan Weaver and Elder Wayne Huddleston will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Born November 30, 1938, in Azalia, Wilma was the daughter of James and Bertha Hadley Burton. She married Donald (Whitey) Jines on November 22, 1956. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2006.

Wilma worked for many years at ITT Thompson before they closed. She then worked at Sylvania where she retired. She was a member of Seymour Christian church. She loved being outdoors, reading, watching IU Sports, NFL and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Cathy and son-in-law Mike Terry of Seymour; son, Donald Jines of Greenwood; grandchildren, Alex Kemery, Samantha Jines Wilderman, Craig Jines, and Matthew and his wife Alex Terry; great-grandchildren, Abby Kemery, Andrew Wilderman, Josie Kemery, Eli Schnell, Cole Schnell, Bryn Terry, Bex Terry. Brother -in-law Larry Jines and his wife Pam and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Teresa Jines; sisters, Mildred Young, Alleen England, and Donna Jaggers; brothers, James Lee Burton and Paul F. Burton.

Memorials may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Hospital through the funeral home.
