Centra Credit Union makes donation to Foundation For Youth, two of its programs

Through its Team Member Nominated Donations program, Centra Credit Union team members have chosen Foundation For Youth and two of its programs to each receive a $2,500 donation.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bartholomew County and the Council for Youth Development each received a $2,500 donation from Centra. In addition, Centra made a $500 contribution to the foundation’s athletics program to support supplies for youth activities, according to a press release.

“We were thrilled that Foundation For Youth, along with our programs Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Council for Youth Development, were all nominated for these donations,” Chuck Kime, Executive Director of Foundation For Youth, said in the release. “It’s wonderful to see community partners like Centra recognize the important work our programs do to empower and support youth in Bartholomew County.”

Each year, Centra team members nominate local organizations that make a meaningful difference in the community to receive charitable gifts through their Team Member Nominated Donations program. This allows employees to nominate nonprofits for a $2,500 grant.

Big Brothers Big Sisters works to develop positive relationships between adult volunteers and children that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people, according to Foundation For Youth’s website. Big Brothers Big Sisters director Kelly Backmeyer said the program is very grateful to Centra for their generous donation in support of their mentoring programs.

“This contribution will directly benefit the youth we serve by helping us create and sustain meaningful mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of young people,” Backmeyer said in the release. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Centra Bank for their continued partnership and commitment to making a positive difference in our community.”

Council for Youth Development, or CYD, is a cross-sector coalition that aligns efforts to advance a culture of positive youth development in the county. They envision a community where all youth and families are reaching their full potential, according to Foundation For Youth’s website.

“We are very grateful to Centra for this generous gift. Their support means a great deal to us and the people we serve,” CYD director Sara Dunlap said in the release. “These funds will help sustain our youth programs, creating opportunities for teens to grow, lead and feel seen and supported in our community.”

These contributions will help Foundation For Youth continue their work of creating opportunities for growth, connection and empowerment among local youth. With the support from dedicated community partners like Centra Credit Union, their programs can continue to inspire and uplift the next generation, according to the press release.

“Their generosity makes a meaningful difference in the lives of young people,” Kime said in the release.
