EDINBURGH —The Edinburgh community came together once again for its annual Community Thanksgiving dinner, serving over 565 residents.
Held on Nov. 21 in the Edinburgh Community High School cafeteria and organized by Cory Sevier, this long-standing tradition served over 565 meals to the community.
In addition to meals served on-site, the Edinburgh Fire Department played a role in reaching residents unable to attend, delivering over 50 meals to shut-ins throughout the community.
The success of the event was made possible through the generosity of numerous local organizations, churches, businesses and individual citizens who donated food, funds and time.
Volunteers staffed every part of the operation as well — from preparation and setup to serving and cleanup.
A special contribution came from the Edinburgh Methodist Church, where many volunteers prepared and de-boned the turkeys ahead of the event.
“We are grateful for the overwhelming support,” said Sherri Sweet, secretary to the Edinburgh Community School Corp. superintendent. “This dinner reflects the heart of Edinburgh — neighbors helping neighbors. We’re proud to see so many people come together to make the holiday brighter for others.”
