Volunteer drivers delivered about 470 Thanksgiving dinners as far south as Jonesville and as far north as Edinburgh from Columbus Baptist Church. Several families also dined at the church, raising the total number of meals served to 585.
2000
Rod Blasdel of Columbus was named the new director of Columbus Municipal Airport. Blasdel retired from Cummins Engine Co. after more than 26 years to take the job with the city.
1975
Columbus resident Col. Stephen Hewitt credited his dog, Keadib, with saving his life after the terrier-beagle mix woke Hewitt in bed and alerted him to a fire in the kitchen. The fire was extinguished quickly and both Hewitt and Keadib escaped unharmed.
