College sports notebook: IUC players net All-RSC honors

Five IU Columbus volleyball players have been honored with All-River States Conference selections.

Cora Baker, a junior middle hitter from South Adams, became the first Crimson Pride athlete in school history to be named first-team All-RSC.

Ruthie Bingham, a senior outside hitter from Trinity Lutheran, and Journee Brown, a sophomore middle hitter from Seymour, are on the second team. Sadie Egan a sophomore setter from Terre Haute North, and Bailey Stevens, a freshman setter from Yorktown, made the third team.

The Crimson Pride went 20-8 this season, including 11-5 in the RSC to qualify for the conference tournament.

Dean records three kills in loss to Hoosiers

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Gabby Dean pounded three kills Wednesday in Illinois’ three-set loss to Indiana.

Dean, a redshirt sophomore from Columbus East, and the Illini finished 13-16 overall and 8-12 in the Big Ten.

Lawson leads UIndy in assists in defeat

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Kylah Lawson scored two points and led University of Indianapolis with two assists in a 70-52 loss at Thomas More.

Lawson, a senior from Columbus North, added three rebounds and one steal in 19 minutes for the Greyhounds (0-5).

Stahl collects rebounds for Boilermakers

Saige Stahl grabbed two rebounds in 5 minutes for Purdue (4-3) in Sunday’s 57-55 loss at Central Michigan.
