Vickie Michael announced her candidacy Tuesday seeking the Republican nomination for Bartholomew County auditor.
She said she plans to bring a service-minded approach to the auditor’s office if elected.
She is the employee resource administrator for Bartholomew County, reporting directly to the commissioners. In this role she works closely with county government departments on operations, employee needs and administrative processes that support public service, she said.
Michael previously worked for three years in the Bartholomew County auditor’s office beginning in deductions and later moving to payroll.
“As an employee of the commissioners and a former employee of the auditor’s office, I understand the information and support our county council, elected officials and department heads need to make well-informed financial decisions for taxpayers,” Michael said. “My goal is to lead with integrity, accuracy and a commitment to service.
Before joining county government, Michael spent more than 30 years as general manager of her family’s business, Skooter’s Family Restaurant. She said her background in business management strengthened her skills in customer service, personnel management, financial oversight and problem-solving.
She said her candidacy is driven by her passion for serving others, ensuring strong financial stewardship, and supporting the employees and departments that work daily on behalf of the community.
Michael has been married to her husband Dennis Michael for 33 years and together they have five adult children.
“I care deeply about Bartholomew County and I want to contribute to its continued stability and success,” she said.
