North girls take 15th in RunningLane Nationals

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A day after the Columbus North boys cross-country team finished eighth in the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon, the Bull Dog girls varsity and boys JV teams competed in the New Balance Running Lane Cross Country Championships in Huntsville, Alabama.

North finished 15th in the Gold Girls race with 347 points. An unattached team from Tennnessee won with 30, followed by Mountain Vista with 70, Fort Wayne Concordia with 118 and IMG Academy (Florida) with 184.

Emma Lowther and Kodi Smith finished 159th and 161st in 19 minutes, 7.90 seconds and 19:08.55 for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) to lead the Bull Dogs. Sydney Madden took 192nd in 19:23.18, while Maria Gaggiano Camargo was 210th (19:34.25), Ainsley Sherlock 248th (20:17.09), Hazel Sasse 262nd (20:50.79) and Reece Peeples 287th (22:21.12). North was without No. 1 runner Tristan Works and No. 5 runner Adira Sluder, who made the trip with their families to Portland to watch their brothers compete.

The Bull Dogs finished third in the Silver Boys race. Rohan Norris took 34th in 16:08.41, while Garrett Perfetto was 82nd (16:23.64), Levi Carothers 107th (16:32.49), Leyton Hottell 118th (16:35.60), Jackson Lowther 119th (16:35.65), Jackson Schneider 141st (16:41.84) and Drew Hoeflinger 222nd (17:02.75).

North finished second in the Bronze Boys race. Zaid Warsi took 33rd in 16:47.25, while Noah Weidman was 45th (16:54.08), Cole DeVreese 85th (17:05.64), James Stofel 102nd (17:09.91), Jonathan Hatton 121st (17:19.15), Ethan Lovell 179th (17:42.17) and Caleb Niewedde 265th (18:26.38).

The Bull Dogs finished 19th in the Silver Girls race. Brooklyn Donner took 166th in 21:30.23, while Ava Horn was 180th (21:54.99), Ellie Frazier 182nd (21:57.85), Claire Rawlings 188th (22:13.33), Sophia Weber 217th (23:50.08) and Pauline Vaufrey 228th (28:37.38).
