College sports notebook: Smith wins shot put; Stahl, Gelfius score 6

NORMAN, Okla. — Tucker Smith won the shot put Friday when Oklahoma opened the indoor track and field season by hosting the OU Winter Field Fest.

Smith, a senior from Columbus North, threw 18.65 meters (62 feet, 10 inches).

Stahl leads Boilers with 8 rebounds in win

Saige Stahl scored six points and led Purdue with eight rebounds Wednesday in a 91-49 win against Evansville.

Stahl, a junior from Columbus East, went 3 for 3 from the field and also had one assist and one steal in 22 minutes for the Boilermakers.

Sunday, Stahl recorded two points and four rebounds in 14 minutes for Purdue (5-4, 0-1) in a 106-54 Big Ten loss at sixth-ranked Michigan.

Gelfius hits 3-pointers for Grizzlies

HANOVER — Ledger Gelfius scored six points on 2-of-2 shooting from 3-point range Saturday in Franklin’s 74-65 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss at Hanover.

Gelfius, a freshman from Hauser, also had one rebound and one steal in 10 minutes for the Grizzlies (3-4, 0-2).

Greiwe helps Wildcats top St. Francis

Koryn Greiwe netted three points, one rebound, two assists and one steal in 12 minutes Wednesday in Indiana Wesleyan’s 81-59 Crossroads League win against Saint Francis.

Greiwe, a redshirt junior from Columbus East, had one rebound in 10 minutes for the Wildcats (6-5, 2-2) in Saturday’s 68-51 Crossroads loss at Huntington.

Barker sinks 3-pointer in Franklin win

HANOVER — Lauren Barker hit a 3-pointer Saturday in Franklin’s 67-65 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Hanover.

Lawson contributes for Greyhounds

Kylah Lawson recorded two points and two rebounds in 22 minutes in University of Indianapolis’ 63-48 Great Lakes Valley Conference loss at Lewis (Illinois).

Lawson, a senior from Columbus North, had three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 15 minutes in Thursday’s 56-47 GLVC loss to Maryville (Missouri).

Saturday, Lawson posted two points, three rebounds and one steal in 13 minutes for the Greyhounds (0-8, 0-3) in a 60-43 GLVC loss to Missouri-St. Louis.
