Panthers sweep Olympians

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County swept a swimming dual from Columbus East Monday, taking the boys contest 86-71 and the girls meet 123-15.

Charlie Witt won the 50-yard freestyle (26.79 seconds) and 500 freestyle (5:55.57) to lead the Panther boys. Dillon Johnson took the 100 freestyle (1:02.49), Levi Whitesell captured the 100 backstroke (1:01.28) and Jayden Minneman won the 100 breaststroke (1:26.72). Jennings also won the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.94)

Josh Pendleton led the Olympian boys with wins in the 200 freestyle (1:48.05) and 100 butterfly (54.91). Mason Bean took the 200 individual medley (2:33.78), and East captured the 200 medley (2:05.48) and 400 freestyle (3:49.93) relays.

The Panthers won all 11 girls events (there was no diving competition Monday). Hadley St. Clair took the 200 freestyle (2:28.68) and 500 freestyle (6:47.27), Kaitelynn Ludeman took the 50 freestyle (30.44) and 100 butterfly (1:17.12) and Ava Biehle captured the 100 freestyle (1:06.47) and 100 breaststroke (1:30.73). Maggie Stoner won the 200 IM (3:03.82), Caylee Whitesell took the 100 backstroke (1:21.39) and Jennings swept the 200 medley (2:31.62), 200 freestyle (2:04.60) and 400 freestyle (4:38.42) relays.

East’s top girls finishes were seconds from Savannah Burton in both the 50 freestyle (32.35) and 100 backstroke (1:23.54) and Baylee Benefield in the 100 breaststroke (1:42.07).
