Nancy Jane Simmons, “Jane” formerly of Hope, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 6, 2025 in Eugene, Oregon with her family and friends by her side. Born on August 24, 1946 at home , she was the daughter of Bill and Marjorie (Worrell) Simmons.
Jane was a cheerleader all through high school for the Hauser Jets in Hope, Indiana where she graduated in 1964. She was a member of the Moravian Church. Jane was an accomplished pianist and had a beautiful voice, giving piano lessons and playing many instruments throughout her life. Jane attended Indiana University and traveled to India to study classical Indian dance. Jane then moved to Fairfax, California, where she joined a professional Indian dance company.
Jane attended Marion County Community College for nursing and was an Registered Nurse for 30 years before moving to Eugene, Oregon.
Jane was a Free Mason and an avid gardener. She especially loved roses, lilacs and peonies. She also loved dogs and horses.
Survivors include her daughter Jerusha (Damion) Pemberton, grandchildren; Karmyn (Brian), Ben and Mason all of Eugene, Oregon. Siblings; Barbara (Henry) Meredith and Irene Simmons both of Columbus, Billie (Mark) Tatlock of Indianapolis and David (Brenda) Simmons of Columbus, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will follow cremation in Eugene, Oregon.
