County hires provider to help with mail services

County officials on Monday finalized a new agreement between the clerk’s office and a Yorktown-based mailing solutions provider who will help manage the high-volume of mailings at the Bartholomew County Courthouse.

The Bartholomew County Commissioners approved an agreement between the county clerk’s office and Pinnacle Mailing Products for $1,739.76 annually over five years.

Bartholomew County Clerk Shari Lentz said the current process for mailing “is just not working for us” and had indicated to the commissioners earlier in the fall that a potential change was coming.

It’s common for county clerks to use mailing solutions providers because of the large amount of mail volume they handle, especially given limited staffing.

The change-over will be effective for Jan. 1. Pinnacle will help the clerk handle legally required mailings such as collection reminders from the courts and other documents, for example.

Pinnacle Mailing Products was the lowest out of four bidders. The clerk’s office also received quotes from Quadient Mailing Solutions for $4,761.24 per year, Pitney Bowes for $4,115.52 per year and FP Mailing Solutions for $1,992.60 per year.
