Full Throttle Speed Skating competed at the Ohio Invitational Short Track Competition earlier this month in Cleveland Heights, Ohio against skaters from Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington D.C. and New York. This was an ability meet and also hosted the third competition in the Heartland Racing Series.[-
Finn Phipps competed at 222m, 333m, 500m and 777m distances, finishing fifth for boys in his group.
Rithwik Veeravalli and Vivaan Gupta competed at 444m, 500m, 777m and 1000m, earning first and third, respectively, for boys in their section.
Wyatt Kiefer competed in the third Heartland Racing Series of the season at 500m, 777m, 1000m and 1500m, finishing fifth in the men’s division.
Kiefer and Veeravalli also competed in a 3000m relay race, and Gupta competed in a 2000m relay at the end of the meet. Kiefer and Veeravalli’s four-person team finished second in their race. Gupta’s three-person team finished third in their race.
Full Thottle takes a break for the holidays, returning to competition in February at the NorthBurke Short Track meet in Northbrook, Illinois. The team practices at the Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena and is coached by Taylor and Mikey Burdekin of Columbus.
