SEYMOUR — The National Audubon Society annual Christmas Bird Count will be at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in Seymour on Thursday, Jan. 1.
You will be joining birders volunteering all across the country to help assess the nation’s bird population.
All birders, from novices to experts, are invited to meet in the Refuge Visitor Center courtyard promptly at 7:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day to join the bird count. Be sure dress appropriately for the weather and bring binoculars.
Birders will be assigned to various locations in the refuge to identify and count birds. Starting at 11 a.m. folks are invited to enjoy a hot soup lunch prepared by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society. All the birders, whether they count for a couple hours or stay until dark, will submit their results to the Visitor Center where they will compiled and submitted to the National Audubon Society Christmas Count.
