The city on Tuesday agreed to accept public improvements associated with a now-finished subdivision along County Road 200 West, south of Lowell Road.
Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety members accepted public improvements across five sections of Abbey Place, which totals 313 lots.
This means the city will now assume maintenance responsibility for public infrastructure within the subdivision including streets, sidewalks, storm sewers and other public improvements that were part of five subdivision improvement agreements between the city and the developer, the last of which was finalized in December 2021.
As part of the public improvement acceptance of each section, the city will release just under $4 million in existing performance and maintenance guarantees associated with the project to the developer, Arbor Homes.
Residents of Abbey Place in the past month or so had been reaching out to the city inquiring about snow removal, city officials said. The Abbey Place homeowners association had contracted with a private company to do snow removal until the public improvements were inspected and accepted. Going forward, the department of public works will be in charge of snow removal and related maintenance.
The subdivision, which had been in the works since November 2016, is one of three developed my Arbor Homes in the area, joining 273-lot Sutter Place and 40-lot Abbey Commons.
Sutter Place in November received city approval to begin lot sales on the second section of the subdivision, which includes a comparatively more affordable starter-home product.
