Everyone in the community can make an impact this Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
United Way of Bartholomew County is organizing and participating in the national Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, a day when Americans come together to turn Dr. King’s vision of justice, equity and compassion into meaningful service, on Jan. 19. Residents age 5 and up are all invited to put Dr. King’s legacy into action during this annual event.
“The MLK Jr. Day of Service reflects the giving spirit Dr. King lived out every day,” Volunteer Action Center director Alicia Monroe said in a press release. “By offering more opportunities than ever before, United Way and the Volunteer Action Center are inviting our entire community to honor his legacy through action and help make Bartholomew County a better place to live.”
This year’s MLK Jr. Day of Service features an unprecedented range of opportunities designed for individuals, families and workplaces, making it easier than ever for everyone to serve together, according to the press release. Through hands-on projects, volunteers strengthen the community, support local nonprofits and create lasting local impact.
