The exterior of Central Middle School on the first day of school for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in Columbus, Ind., Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025.
Envision 2030 work on Central Middle School has been wrapped up.
Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. board members on Monday night approved the final change order for the project, overseen by Dunlap & Company and CSO Architects, which was comprised of interior improvements at the school.
The change order reflected a deduction of $42,704.00, finalizing the project cost at $868,696.
The project is part of the district’s ongoing Envision 2030 facilities plan, which seeks to improve school facilities and learning environments across the school corporation.
The work at Central included new offices for a therapist and student resource officer, new furniture and the conversion of a space into a STEM lab.
The big ticket item was the renovation of the school’s media center, which was finished over fall break. The media center features a modernized circulation desk, a new green room, a larger instructional area and a relocated technology office.
The school board agreed to release $44.1 million in bonds in 2024 and $72 million in bonds this year as part of the Envision 2030 initiative.
More information about Envision 2030 can be found on BCSC’s website.
According to a BCSC timeline, the completion of the first phase of work at Columbus East is next up, which includes an expansion of C4 spaces related to the health sciences pathway.
That work is expected to be done in March. The school board recently awarded phase two work at East that will see a 22,500 square-foot addition at the school housing cosmetology, construction, welding and agriculture sciences programs.
