Calvary Community Church Rev. Jane Sims was the keynote speaker at the 23rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Scholarship Recognition at the church. Sims told the crowd of about 120 people that Christian churches must do more to fight inequality and honor King’s legacy.

A winter storm blew through Bartholomew County and left about three inches of snow, plus temperatures at 4 degrees. Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. and Jennings County School Corp. closed their schools for the day due to safety concerns.
