Dagan Kleffman // Columbus North junior diver
Kleffman won the diving competition with a six-dive personal-best 255.30 in Thursday’s dual-meet loss to Bloomington North, then won the Conference Indiana diving title Saturday with an 11-dive personal-best 379.95 to lead the Bull Frogs to a third-place team finish.
His performance last week: “I was so excited about it. It was kind of the performance of my dreams. I was so happy.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just try to get into a good mindset for it, and I try to visualize how I approach my dives and get in the water.”
Favorite drink: “Sprite”
Favorite food: “Mashed potatoes”
Favorite class: “I really like my C4 Automotive class, but for a core class, Trigonometry.”
Favorite sports team: “Indiana Hoosiers football”
Favorite athlete: “I look up to Greg Louganis a lot for diving.”
Role model: “My dad (Shane Kleffman)”
Best advice: “Slow down and take my time. Life moves fast.”
Athletics goal: “To break both (six-dive and 11-dive) school records. I’m approaching it now.”
If you could travel anywhere: “Colorado, on an elk hunt.”

Katie Bond // Columbus Christian junior basketball player
Katie Bond
Bond scored a career-high 21 points in Thursday’s 50-23 win against I-Town Prep, then reset that career high with 25 points in Saturday’s 70-37 win against Christian Academy of Madison in the championship game of the Southern Roads Conference Tournament.
Her performance last week: “I think I did pretty well. I did try my best a lot.”
Do you do anything special to prepare? “I do my best at practice and when our gym is empty, I go in there and shoot around and practice my layups and 3-pointers.”
Favorite drink: “Sprite”
Favorite food: “My dad’s grilled cheese”
Favorite class: “My math class or my Cadet Teaching class”
Favorite sports team: “Indianapolis Colts and Indiana University”
Favorite athlete: “My teammates”

Best advice: “Don’t give up and just focus on what’s going to happen next instead of what just happened.”
Athletics goal: “To get better at my shooting 3-pointers and help my team win state and do great at nationals.”
