Jill Shedd was elected as president of the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. Board, replacing Bob Abrams, and Rich Stenner was elected vice president.

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. students celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day as an out-of-school holiday for the first time. A student celebration of King’s legacy was held at Jefferson Education Center on Sycamore Street.

The Commons was selected as one of 200 sites to be promoted nationally by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offices in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Bicentennial Celebration.
