
At the 67th annual anniversary meeting of The Country Club on Jan. 20, 1976, Wayne Guthrie, well-known Indianapolis newspaperman who grew up in Columbus, was the guest speaker and was accompanied by his cousin, Verna Percifield, also from Columbus, at right. From left, Frances Daugherty was program chairman, and Charity McCullough, who had known Guthrie since one-room school days, invited him as special guest speaker.

Leaders from local human rights groups, law enforcement, interfaith groups, a community dialogue group and more gathered at the Columbus Area Visitors Center for “Just Faith: An Open Christian and Muslim Dialogue of Peace and Common Values.”

A $117,000 grant was used by the city of Columbus to buy a new $93,000 trash truck exclusively for recycling cardboard, and 30 large dumpsters for cardboard recycling were given to local businesses.
