Judah Lewis // Columbus East junior basketball player

Lewis scored a career-high 30 points Friday to lead the Olympians to a 76-68 overtime win at Scottsburg.

His performance last week: “I feel like I played really good, but my team came out and played really hard because we were on a losing streak. We didn’t let that get to our head and came out with the win.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just stretch and listen to music.”

Favorite drink: “Chocolate milk”

Favorite food: “Pepperoni pizza”

Favorite class: “US History or Weight Training”

Favorite sports team: “Tennessee Volunteers”

Favorite athlete: “(Former Auburn and current G-League player) Shareef Cooper. He’s not an oversized guard, but he uses his body real well, and that’s one of the guys I look up to.”

Role model: “My mom (Kristin Cook) and both of my sisters (Sincere and Tiana Brantley) and my grandma (Kelly Cook).”

Best advice: “Don’t try to compare yourself and just be yourself.”

Athletics goal: “Play college basketball at the highest level I can.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Trinidad, because that’s where my dad is from, and I feel like it would be cool to go see family members, and Trinidad seems really beautiful from pictures, also.”

Marley Warren

Warren led the Cougars with 31 points in a 52-49 loss at Oldenburg Academy and 19 points in Saturday’s 63-9 win at South Decatur.

Her performance last week: “It was definitely coming natural for me, and I felt confidence and loose. My coaches and teammates trusted me, and I was able to play with a lot of confidence.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Definitely in practice, I make sure I take every rep seriously, and I make sure I’m eating well and getting extra shots up whenever I can.”

Favorite drink: “Alani energy drink”

Favorite food: “Streak”

Favorite class: “Medical terminology”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana Hoosiers”

Favorite athlete: “Caitlin Clark”

Role model: “My mom (Julie Warren)”

Best advice: “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

Athletics goal: “I want to make it to the state championship in high school.”

If you could travel anywhere: “St. Lucia. My family went there in the summer, and I loved it. It was beautiful.”
