2016

Construction began on the Brighter Days homeless shelter, with a group of students from Atterbury Job Corps digging trenches and pouring concrete. The new concrete was being donated by Shelby Materials of Columbus.

2001

Columbus North High School student Sarah King was the guest speaker at the DARE graduation, where more than 400 Bartholomew County students graduated from the program.

1976

The 1976 Bicentennial edition of The Republic’s Southern Indiana Gourmet Cookbook was published, which included hundreds of recipes. An overflow of recipes also appeared in The Republic.
