MONTREAT, N.C. — IU Columbus jumped out to an 8-0 lead Friday and held on for an 8-6 win at Montreat in the softball season opener.
Cierra Cramer went 3 for 3, and Justice Cash went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs for the Crimson Pride, who managed 11 hits. Sydney Sauri and Mallory Shelton each had two RBIs.
Kenzie Matern, Chloe Linn, Jessica Ebersole and Callie Beikes combined on a four-hitter. Linn picked up the victory, and Beikes earned the save.
