Rick Sluder, who led the Columbus North boys to the state title, has been named boys cross-country coach of the year by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.
Last month, Sluder was named both Indiana coach of the year and national coach of the year by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Streeval selected MHC Player of Year
Edinburgh senior Kenna Streeval has been named the Mid-Hoosier Conference Most Outstanding Player for girls basketball.

Streeval is joined on the All-MHC first team by fellow Lancer Bella Turner, along with Hauser’s June Berkenstock, Kennedy Konradi and Braelyn Williams and South Decatur’s Raegan Benge and Taylor Somers. Hauser’s Abby Manley, South Decatur’s Riley Benge and Dalilah Martin and Edinburgh’s Kinzie Purvis made honorable mention.
3 Bull Dogs, Olympian named All-Region 10
Four local seniors have been named All-Region 10 by the Indiana Football Coaches Association.
Columbus North quarterback Asher Ratliff and defensive backs Macario Mendez and Sam Perry made the team, along with Columbus East linebacker Brody Miller.
All-Region selections are eligible to be selected for the annual North-South All-Star Classic.
Locals earn All-HBCA honors
Three local seniors have been named to the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association All-District 3 team.
Columbus North’s Kenna Conrad and Miley McClellan and Jennings County’s Mollie Ernstes made the team and now are eligible to be selected to the HBCA All-Star Classic.
North junior Kaylie Harmon and Jennings junior Etta Young are on the Underclass All-District 3 team. Trinity Lutheran junior Marley Warren and sophomore Rachel Bonde made the Underclass All-District 4 squad.
Panthers learn semistate opponent, site
Class 3A No. 8 Jennings County (19-6) will play 3A No. 6 Washington (22-4) in the semifinals of the girls basketball Southport Semistate at 10 a.m. Friday.
Northview (20-6) and 3A No. 1 Roncalli (25-3) will meet in the second semifinal at around noon. The semistate championship will be at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Boys hoops draw set for Feb. 22
The boys basketball state tournament draw will take place Feb. 22.
